My TV screen is full of talking heads saying “major escalation” & “requires retaliation.” We don’t know that yet! We don’t know the payload, don’t know the damage, don’t know how many strikes will follow. We do know Trump watches TV & may respond based on what’s you say. STOP!!!

Are you confusing mortars and missiles? Tikrit was mortared every other day Feb 2004 - Feb 2005. July 4th 2004 was attempted storming of the main gate, turned away by our base QRF. Also, a sniper attack from abandoned hotel just outside base in Tikrit too. No missiles though.

No doubt, mortars were common (probably more common). But I also remember being on receiving end of 107mm and 122mm rockets in Baghdad, and at FOB Speicher, and having other munitions like RPGs shot at our PJCC compound in downtown Baqubah.

What if there's casualties? What do we say to their families?

That was war, this is an object lesson. That was when there was a "coalition of support" not a madman out of control with the football.
