#MathiasRisse suggests the human rights movement use the #PompeoCommission to engage constitutional conservatives and “make clear to them how their basic stance generates much more serious human rights commitments than they might have thought.”
According to @katharinegyoung, the rhetoric of the #PompeoCommission that property rights are first and foremost mischaracterizes US notions of life, liberty, and happiness. Furthermore, the report fails to engage with economic and social rights movements internal within the US.
The #PompeoCommission sends a message to autocrats & dictators that "human rights may be interpreted in a way that is consistent with any particular individual country’s history & tradition," warns @andreaprasow.
