Trump’s incompetence and lack of scientific knowledge...should concern everyone not to rush a vaccine without proper trials makes me think of “THALIDOMIDE”...
Is he an epidemiologist? What authority does he cite on herd immunity?
fact: Herd immunity is ONLY achieved via vaccination at high rates, so that infection in the unvaccinated cannot get traction in the community and fizzles out instead of spreading. fact: herd immunity is not reached by allowing people to get sick and, hopefully, recover.
fact: even if a high proportion of a community gets an infection & recovers & has natural immunity, that only "saves" them. The next generation remains at high risk of epidemic and dying in droves, like we did with polio, diptheria, measles until we vaccinated for herd immunity.
