When Ben Franklin walked out of the final deliberations on our Constitution, he was asked “Well Doctor, what have we got – a Republic or a Monarchy” And he replied “A Republic if you keep it.” Today the Senate’s vote calls into question whether we can indeed keep a Republic.
This vote allows the President to go unchecked: -colluding w/ foreign powers -tampering w/ U.S. elections -ignoring Congressional budgets -ignoring subpoenas -blackmailing foreign leaders w/ taxpayer funded military aid -putting his private interests over those of our country
Our only hope now lies in the voice and power of the American people on November 3, 2020, where we will decide if we do have a Republic and if we can keep it.

Or how many of us (citizens) want a Republic. It asks us to be responsible, to know what the issues are, what is at stake, and to agree about what needs to be done. We can’t be tearing into each other all the time. I don’t know that we have what it takes to be a united states.
