I have a diabetic cat on insulin twice a day. A bottle is $300 and lasts 6 weeks. A physician I work with, I’m an RN, saves my ass on a regular basis with professional sample bottles given to her by the manufacturer’s drug rep. She retires in 3 months, I’m panicked!
I remember my parents' struggles when most of their income was tied up paying for life-saving insulin, a struggle far too many of us know too well. We must loosen the grip of pharmaceutical companies on Congress & put patients before profits. #GAPol #GA07 http://bit.ly/2UBymh4

When my mother first went into assisted living at age 84, nearly 1,000 a month of her limited savings went to a pharmacy in Fla. It drove me crazzzy! The pharmacy was in Florida and was gouging seniors. A new director of assisted living changed things.

Does anyone remember that Banting and Best (who invented insulin). and also Canadian, btw, intended it to be as free as the water in the fountains at your parks. What happened?

What happened was pharma companies found a way to prevent this 100 year old drug from being available as a generic by tweaking the ingredients to keep their patents going. Prices have gone up 80 % in a decade. My son is a TypeOne D and would die without it. It MUST change.
