it's one of my favorite languages because 1. i felt like i learned something new (borrow checker) and 2. gives you new capabilities (systems programming with safety)

with that said, c++14 is pretty good and the ecosystem and performance is second to none

My problem with C++ is that there are so many clashing conventions and subcultures. I guess that's just me getting a taste of my own medicine.

rust refuses to put anything in stdlib though, so there's a similar problem of 10 different future/promise libraries, none blessed

i'm familiar with 2 or 3 async io libs for rust, but afaik there's only one prominent futures/promises library -- which ones are you thinking of? the discovery process for good libs in rust land is...improving, but its still suboptimal.

definitely recommend checking out the recent libz blitz (with associated cookbook and api guidelines work), although that's only touching the lowest part of the async stack right now. not yet 100% amazing tbh, but i think its really promising and getting there

i should be able to follow people i trust on crates.io and they should be able to mark crates they trust. and there should be a list of suggested people to follow
