💥 On 21st October, I've helped secure debate in House of Commons on "COP26 & limiting temperatures to 1.5 degrees" 🌍 It's so vital these issues are debated in Parliament ahead of key decisions in Government 🤔 Will your MP be there? Please ask!

  2. We won't meet climate targets with ad hoc policies & insufficient investment We need ✅ A Green New Deal to decarbonise every sector & create thousands of jobs ❌No new oil & gas licences ⬆️ investment in renewables, not backing a white elephant with nuclear

The UK has the highest case rates of COVID-19 in the world. One third of our population is not protected. China has already vaccinated a higher % and through infection control has a death rate of 3 per million. Our death rate is 2028 per million. The govt + advisers are silent.

  4. Installing a heat pump without first insulating a home is like buying a teapot with cracks in it The Government's new strategy isn't just under-funded, it's half-baked. We urgently need a nationwide insulation plan to cut emissions, create warmer homes & create jobs

  5. A heat pump in a poorly insulated home just won't work. It’s like buying a teapot with cracks in it: leaky, inefficient and a waste of money. We need joined-up action on climate change & a *comprehensive*, well-funded home insulation scheme - not token gestures

Green Party MP Caroline Lucas says the government's boiler upgrade scheme is "yet another of Boris Johnson's big flagship policies that, when you start to look at some of the details, they're just not there" which sends "a very bad signal" ahead of COP26

  7. Govt claims to be *world beating* in its Heat & Buildings strategy are sadly laughable when you look at what's happening elsewhere This is a half-baked, woefully under-funded plan that barely scratches surface of what's needed to cut emissions & keep people warm

  8. Promises that *in the future* heat pumps will cost no more than gas boilers just doesn’t cut it We can’t wait til 2030 to get costs down - we need larger grants & major insulation plan now Yet another climate plan that’s underfunded & will under-deliver

"We know that the money isn't there. Clearly there was a fight between No 10 and the Treasury, and the Treasury has won." Green MP says there isn't enough funding for poorer households to afford insulation upgrades and low carbon heat pumps

As summarised ahead of the rally last month "did not design the flats and they don't own the buildings so should not be dumped upon with the cost of putting things right" It's really very simple.

By date of test 41,000 people tested positive on Monday already in England, compared to 35,000 week before. Admissions and deaths rising too. Is govt going to acknowledge this? Or, even better, do something about it?

My heart goes out to David’s family and friends. He was one of the kindest politicians, liked and respected by MPs on all sides of the House, and such a passionate champion for all his constituents. My love and thoughts with them all

This is the most sensible thing a royal has ever said Even leaving aside the obscenity of global monopolists indulging their middle-aged fantasies while millions are hungry How can we think we have any right to visit other planets before we learn not to f**k up our own?

PM says is lodestar of his Govt So if it's to have any credibility ahead of COP26, all Lords' amendments to strengthen action on climate, biodiversity & nature protection must be accepted in full when it returns to Commons next week
