💥INCREDIBLE. In less than two minutes, this mum of a little girl with cystic fibrosis, gives health secretary, the unvarnished truth. All of it. I know I couldn't be this calm and eloquent in her place. Watch! ~AA

"They're being worked to the bone. The resources are not there. It's not fair to blame it on the pandemic, is it. We had problems before the pandemic. The damage that you're doing to families is terrible. I know you're looking at numbers, but they're people waiting for care." ~AA

Can we: (a) stop referring to poor NHS performance and name it for what it is - poor government performance; and (b) be clear that scrabbling around for unqualified “volunteers” would be unnecessary if the government had funded the NHS adequately.

We spend an equivalent £15-25bn less than France and Germany on healthcare. Enough to restore pay to all NHS staff and expand hospital bed capacity back to 2010 levels. Your access to healthcare is a political choice!

Liz Truss said several times in her radio round that no family would pay more than £2,500 this year for energy bills. This is just *not* the case - and here’s why 👇🏼

Pls share to stop confusion. THERE IS NO £2,500 CAP ON ENERGY BILLS. Instead the new 1 Oct guarantee, like the old caps, limits - Daily charge (28p gas, 46p elec) - & Unit rates (10p/kWh gas, 34p/kWh elec) So use more, pay more. £2,500 is just what someone with avg use'd pay

'Britain and the US are poor societies with some very rich people' - this, from the FT should concern us all

Incredibly worrying. “Stealth privatisation” of the NHS is becoming “right under your nose privatisation” of the NHS. That’s only good for wealthy shareholders and only bad for patients.

The tories have appointed Wol Kolade, managing partner of private equity firm Livingbridge which has multiple investments in private healthcare, to the post of deputy chair of NHS England. He has donated £730,000 to their party

It’s like a weight’s been lifted hearing speak. How long has it been since we’ve heard honesty like it? How much harm has been done while we’ve waited? Our govt and so much of our media have profoundly failed us and it will take years to recover. What a terrible legacy.

It’s time to call out Tory ministers for their trope that striking workers, barristers, health workers etc are holding the country to ransom. Wrong. These are last resort actions against a government that refuses its duty of care to them and the services they provide. Blame it.

There is an easier, traditional, more democratic, way not to be taken to court so often. Show some respect for the law. And don't treat the public finances as your private slush fund.

Yesterday I was asked if it was reasonable to be scared by the Tories' plans. Well, Rishi Sunak has put out a press release, naming me (and no one else) *ten* times. So, yes, they are explicitly targeting their critics. And who knows where this goes? glplive.org/sunak-210822-tw

'a cost of living crisis' doesn't do justice to the financial challenges ahead. Here's with an accessible if worrisome assessment. His honesty about what may lie ahead beats denial and lazy labels like 'Project Fear' every time.
