Tensions over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam continue as Ethiopia accuses President Trump of an “incitement of war” for saying that Egypt will “blow up” the dam during a call with Sudanese and Israeli officials. @MicheleDDunne explains why the dam is so contentious:pic.twitter.com/EYDXP87Zjp

@MicheleDDunne I donot suppose to tell you that "the international involvement" is creating more problem than solution. I donot think you are blind or deaf to to look how much your president is making more problem. Therefore, no more 3rd party involvement, @AUChair2020

Egypt is the most dependent but arrogantly most irresponsible riparian in the Nile basin! It built the gigantic Aswan Lake in the middle of a hyper-arid desert & lets 10 bcm of extremely scarce water evaporate! It uses archaic backward flood irrigation on water-intensive crops!

50% of freshwater wastefully used for industrial cooling! Egypt diverted water from Aswan lake & created Toshka lakes outside the basin and leased agricultural land for Saudis and Emiratis! El-Salam canal diverts Nile outside the African continent, for God’s sake!

Our quest for fair and equitable utilization is justified! Ethiopia’ll never give legitimacy to colonial era treaties! However, we sympathize with Egyptian conundrum and are willing to cede more of the waters of the Nile, but carrying z burden of drought solely is a non- starter
