Pretty much every big tech company’s interview question sets fall into this category. Reality: most engineering problems are solvable with a dumb unsorted array.

2nd reality: Sorting the array would make it faster. 3rd, somewhat depressing reality: It's literally cheaper to 10x the hardware requirements than to pay you to make the algorithm use a sorted array.
