It also doesn't matter if it was written before telecommunication was a thing, it's a national law it has to be followed to the letter regardless, you can't just take freedom of speech away from people.
let me just cut to the chase..."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech" this is part of the actual first amendment...(1)

...the only thing this does is guarantee that *the government*...won't make any law that stops freedom of speech...no mention of businesses or websites or anything else...it only concerns the protection against future laws being made.

...if...this amendment said something like "the public shall forever have the freedom of speech in whatever manner they choose" it would be a very different USA; but this seems to be the interpretation many Americans have. you can clearly see the difference.
