M&M was removed from the Android store for reasons, iOS because it wasn’t worth paying the yearly developer fee. Thalamus have now published it on their accounts. Sadly you can’t re-download if you bought it previously as it’s treated as a different product. Sorry about that.

I’ve mentioned before that Andrew Braybrook’s #zzap64 diaries were a huge influence for me to starting coding #C64 games myself. Imagine it’s the 80s and we had videos of Paradroid in development like this. Perhaps on a cover tape which took time minutes to load.

Popped in some proper graphics of the planets to improve the look. Compressed the orbits a little more. Tickles me that it's all running amidst the original game.

At Walking Circles we nearly always had an arcade cabinet in the office when we were doing conversions. By far the best was Race Drivin' which I got excellent at. No way I could afford all the 10ps in a standard arcade to get so good.

I found this photo of my mid-90s gaming setup (in the old days we did this for insurance purposes). This was before I kept my old gear so I don’t own any of this now. I wish I’d kept that Pye TV. It was excellent for my #Amiga and would still be great for my #C64 today.

My #C64 #craptastic64 entry Nurikabe scraped the top 10 again this year, that's becoming a theme after Blockheads performed similarly. Not too bad as there were a load of great entries. My favourite was place lower than my game.

I was once interviewed for the Retro Gamer "In The Chair" feature. It's the biggest case of imposter syndrome I've ever had. I also decided to pose like a bouncer for one of the photos for reasons I don't recall.

I’ve struggled to find the time to code #C64 games for the last couple of years. Seeing the quality of this lot I don’t think I could compete anyway. My congratulations and admiration goes to the developers of all these games for the quality that keeps the C64 alive.

Vinny was a great help in testing Runn 'n' Gunn (and other projects) during development. He gave me a lot of fantastic notes and is the reason there's an easy mode. He asked me to call it normal to hide his blushes ;)

So yesterday you saw me struggling with Robot Jet Action. Today is another day, and so another challenge: RUNN ‘N’ GUNN by @CarletonHandley A fab #Commodore64 #C64 platformer. Am I any good at it? Am I FUCK! Unedited and unscripted LIVE comments. FREEZE64.com

My first run for 7 weeks or so. I suffered. Not convinced everybody is pointing at Mars here.

I am rubbish at astrophotography, but we had a great view of Mars tonight from Edenfield, under clear skies with an almost full moon. Here’s my running group pointing at it 😂

Here's an early mockup of how the #C64 Runn 'n' Gunn map looks in Charpad. As you can see it's one big level but looks like individual areas in game as I clamp the scrolling to certain regions. The final layout is much the same but room details changed during development.

Quite a lot of Software Creations staff worked on this at sometime or other, including me. It was a big development failure but had great concept art. Amazing to see footage all this time later.

I found a VHS in my Dad's loft. It contains footage of an unreleased N64 game called Moon Jelly (aka Space Jelly) by Software Creations. I have no idea why I had it. As far as I can tell, there are very few people who have ever seen this game. youtu.be/BrXyp-49nmc

With the start of the World Cup I’m reminded of the FIFA games I worked on at Software Creations, including #N64 World Cup 98. It doesn’t feel 24 years ago! The FIFA games are still the ones I mention when people ask if they’d heard of a game I’d worked on.

I’ll never surpass this pumpkin I carved years ago. I basically copied it off the internet but even so my normal results wouldn’t come anywhere near this. As a 70s child I always preferred Bonfire Night anyway.

I've never seen these VHS style boxes, they look pretty nice. I think the worst #C64 boxes back in the day were those massive Beyond Software ones. They were too big and made of flimsy cardboard.

Initially our cartridges were flat with a sticker on the top covering a part of the front and the back. These carts were shipped in VHS style, plastic boxes. Nobody misses the flat cases, but some of you prefer VHS box over cardboard, so we keep making a few for each release.

Not been here since Bury FC got kicked out of the league. Back in the seat (nearly) I used to watch from back in the 90s. It’s a charity match so most of the team are the same as from that era as well.

In my first three years at Software Creations the company didn’t get anything out of the door. Spiral Saga was pretty ambitious but I think as a company we underestimated the effort required for PS1 games.

The #C64 had a surfeit of amazing early 80s arcade conversions. This, Gyruss, Pooyan, Up ‘n Down, Spy Hunter and more. I guesss it was the ideal crossover of technology. I’d rather have the job of coding one of those than Space Harrier!

One of my all-time favorite coin-ops - Taito's phenomenal Mr. Do! - is 40 years old. Its tunneling and collecting action combined to create highly addictive, challenging, and utterly brilliant gameplay that just never gets old. Its tunes and ditties were also unbelievably catchy!

Retro Gamer once did a six page interview with me. I proudly showed my dad but I don't think I ever saw him more non-plussed than after he read it. I also decided to pose like a bouncer for the photo.
