Minnesotans deserve an energy approach that is clean, affordable, and reliable. ‘100% carbon-free by 2040’ sounds good in theory, but in practice, it will reduce the reliability of MN’s energy grid; increase blackouts; and lead to higher utility bills

Righto! The surplus is $18,000,000,000 and growing. MN seniors need their money and they want it now.

Literally the tweet before this is about the surplus. Sounds like we can afford it...

This morning I took a vote that would have allowed us to immediately pass a bill fully eliminating the tax on Social Security benefits. This should have been done last year in our end-of-session bipartisan agreement. We need to get it done as soon as possible.

Glad to chat with about the Minnesota blackout bill. Carbon-free energy is a great aspirational goal. But we need the innovations to get there, and it must be done at a cost that Minnesotans can't afford.

Our State has $17,600,000,000 surplus and over $2,000,000,000 rainy day fund. Tax hikes not needed.

A $17.6 billion surplus and @GovTimWalz wants MORE of your money. His proposal includes tax increases for “Minnesotans who earn paychecks, shop in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area, buy fishing permits, own passenger vehicles…” Billions in a surplus wasn’t enough?

Today is the 81st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I am thinking of the young heroes who lost their lives and the brave men and women who rallied to help their fellow Americans in the aftermath. On this solemn day, we pay tribute to these heroes.

That bill should be a starting point when the legislature convenes in 2023. I will be watching intently to see if the new Democrat majorities in the Senate and House, as well as Gov. Walz, are serious about using the surplus to help working families. (5/5)

It included a full elimination of the state’s tax on Social Security benefits and a real income tax rate reduction. Unfortunately, House Democrat leadership refused to bring it up for a vote before the end of session. (4/5)

Middle-class and working families in Minnesota need tax relief the most, and the surplus provides us with a chance to reduce some of their financial stress. Last session, my House DFL chair counterpart & I agreed to one of the best tax relief bills in this state’s history (3/5)

I was the author of these education bills and glad to note the Republican controlled Senate passed them along with the House and sent them to the Governor for his signature.
