I can count the number of action games with any weapons that do realistic damage on one hand. It's just not how games work, and I've never seen this criticism on any game before - and here it's common. Feels intentional.

Canonically (and this is true) Nathan Drake doesn’t take incremental damage from guns — he just gets more and more unlucky until he’s hit by a bullet and dies. I like to think that’s what’s happening here: that slash was just dodged (deflected?) by a fraction of an inch.
