Apple will buy this, patent it & it’ll never see the light of day. Or they will make their own one and charge the consumer £10000
-
Apple can't patent it. It has already been disclosed to the public. The students can if they filed the application to patent before they disclosed it. Patent rules are important to learn.
-
Or at least a similar enough patent to make their own and avoid paying royalties
-
Those would not be considered similar. The desired goal is the same, but the method is different. That's what patents differentiate.
-
There's been a couple rulings where the courts weighed similar function being the guilty aspect instead of design.
-
Patent is not a protection for design, but rather for the process used to achieve the function.

This article is from 2012, but I believe this just got resolved recently.https://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2012/09/10/160877323/what-will-apple-s-patent-case-mean-for-phone-design …

What triggers the legs to pop out? Please somebody school mepic.twitter.com/vRUlcoOvYt
-
Seems like riding a rollercoaster will cause this to pop out
-
Harder to fall out of my pocket will make it tighter. On a rollercoaster I’ll welcome that anyway

Just like how the sensor on the iphone detects when the phone is next to your face and turns off the screen to avoid touching on buttons whilst on a call, this method can be used to avoid activation of the airbag if close to your clothing e.g. your pockets whilst in a rollercoas
