New today
A policy preventing Copyright owners from making $ on manual claims for:
Short song clips (ex: 5 sec of a song)
Unintentional audio (ex:
from passing cars)
Claimants can still block monetization or the video itself, but timestamps help you edit out the claim.

Good q – this update will not impact claims from the past. It only applies to manual claims submitted today onwards. For past claims, you can still use timestamps & editing tools to remove claimed content. More here: http://yt.be/help/w87U

What if the option to remove the song is not there?

Hmm this may happen for really old claims – even if you can't use "remove song", you should still be able to trim out the content or use "replace song" and then dispute the claim to resolve it. Let us know!

What if the content claimed is a parody of a song? Pretty sure that falls under fair use and cant be claimed.
