This dude yelled that he's "been in the neighborhood for 37 years," (as if that gives him the right to singlehandedly end a city program).
But a friend who has been here all his life says that guy moved here 10 years ago. Soooo.. he's been here about as long as I have.

I'm getting the sense that our community sponsor org is getting closer to pulling the plug. Honestly, I can't blame them. Innocent people are going to get hurt, and the city seems to have largely abandoned any responsibility for it.

Oh, and the Barrier Tosser also said that an NYPD officer told him they have nothing to do with
#OpenStreets and that he was free to get rid of the barriers.Show this thread -
It sucks that
@UnderhillOSCC and@NBk_OSCC and all the other volunteers trying to bring#SafeStreets to our car-clogged city are having to face this crap every day. We do this because we love our communities dearly, but it puts targets on our backs. What to do?Show this thread

Hey, where was this?
-
Underhill, in front of PS9. Yesterday afternoon. I got some video of the guy but I don't want the police to get involved (they've done enough damage already).

Wow, this is extremely effed up! I hope you're ok. Are the angry confrontations with different people every time, or are there returning bullies?
-
I'm ok, thanks. Was just a bit shaken. I haven't gone back out there yet bc I'm trying to avoid that guy for a while, but my fellow volunteers report he has been going up and down Underhill all day, removing the barriers.
