I actually really truly hope Page’s happiness about this lasts for a long long time. I know lots of trans ppl happy with their medical transitions. That’s a wonderful thing.

Wow this Elliott Page thing is really highlighting the disdain a lot of “gender critical” ppl have for ppl navigating gender dysphoria and my block button is getting a WORKOUT.

I think most of the animosity isn't for transitioning, but for deliberately timing the coming out announcement just three hours after Keira Bell's court hearing and the endless demands for trans "health care" for kids and accusations of hate for those that oppose it, etc.

Is it disdain for the people suffering from dysphoria? I see mainly disdain for a system that thinks short hair is for boys, or celebrates a serious clinical intervention, rather than thinking of it as the least desirable (sometimes necessary) option.

I'm trying hard not to descend into 'all trans bad' territory while also understanding transition really doesn't work out for many and that that story needs to be told. Positions become hardened and extreme online. It's an effort to resist it.
