One of the judgiest radical feminists I ever knew went on to say that detrans women were a cult. The lesson I take from that is that ppl who are egotistical enough to let their friends know what they’re judging them on are, in their heart of hearts, narcissists.

I was once very publicly scolded by a radical feminist for my long hair. Which I enjoyed because of the assumption that short hair is the default for humans (despite being the hairstyle that requires intervention), and that only long hair involves the performance of gender

Broadly similar to the "I have a friend of X characteristic so I can't be X-ist" but it's entirely possible to make an exception for someone while retaining your prejudice against the class. Some who are feminists have a "feminism" that's about exceptionalism while their attitude

I get the push against the beauty industry as I too think they’re profiting on making us feel like shit about ourselves, but taking a superior attitude toward other women &feminists bc of it seems counterintuitive. I wear makeup daily to work. Wld feel unprofessional if I didn’t.

Yep. I do object to though to those that frame make up as some kind of 'empowering'. I recognise that I wear it because, within the patriarchy, it helps (get jobs/partner/feel good/whatever) but I don't beat myself up about that any more than I beat myself up about drinking wine
