If you are considering grad school to become a “therapist,” PLEASE figure out the specifics of all the different licensures in your state BEFORE you begin coursework.

In most states when you exit a social work, counseling, MFT, or counseling psychology grad programs you’ve got 2-5 years before you’re independently licensed.

You don’t want to end up in a position where the job you can get with your masters doesn’t give you the supervision you need to get to independent licensure. You’re putting so much money on the line, know the SPECIFICS of what you’re doing.

i was looking into this field last year and I gave up because there are so many variables in hiring and plus it's expensive. but I think I'd be really good at it and damn, it's a hot field right now.

It’s a REAL financial gamble. Something has to give bc what ppl pay to get into the field vs. what they make is totally imbalanced.
