I hope if you don’t get why there are so many ppl getting worked up about minors medically transitioning you will give that 1st link a listen. Imagine yr child goes into inpatient care for anorexia and the clinicians begin a campaign to pressure you to begin them on blockers.

If that sounds like a surreal nightmare, know that that has happened and you can hear the clinicians who led that campaign discussing their “success” in that first link. A real mom really went through that all bc she got her kid eating disorder treatment at the wrong hospital.

So yes it does matter that a nominee for assistant HHS secretary will not give a straightforward, public answer about whether hospitals should be able to call CPS for parental noncompliance with recommended medical transition.

If you don’t interact with the world of transition care for minors, you might be tempted to say “OMG what a NICHE interest to focus on.” It’s an issue that’s a lot more widespread than ppl understand. Way more families are trying to figure this out than you know.

The 8yo described in this clip is like my 9yo from age 5 to 8, except my daughter had zero pressure to do anything other than what she wanted. She had boy clothes, boy underwear, hair #4 with a shaved zigzag. Now I've had to buy all new clothes bc she wants girl everything.

In the wrong situation, my kid would have been medicalised for life.
