I don’t get why open floor plan from the kitchen to the living room got so popular WHY would you want to be cooking and hear all the bullshit from the ppl hanging out NOT cooking?

I think about how the smells have just no barrier and everything in the living room is gonna end up smelling like garlic eventually
Yes! Or what if i smoke up a pan? My kitchen process needs to have its privacy respected.

This! In my last two apartments, a smoky pan makes there be almost no escape from the smell. (I get headaches from it.) Takes ages to air out the living room.

I’ve been lucky I live with someone & thus can afford apartments with actual bedrooms w/at least one separate room to retreat to. If it was one of those 500 sqf studios.....
