I think about how the smells have just no barrier and everything in the living room is gonna end up smelling like garlic eventually

Yes! Or what if i smoke up a pan? My kitchen process needs to have its privacy respected.

i thought I’d like an open floor plan bc i like hanging out and cooking at the same time but it’s really just extremely loud and you hear everything everyone is doing. doors are useful

And I sure don't want people wandering into the kitchen while I'm cooking. "Oh, let me stand at your elbow while you use a razor-sharp knife."

It makes everything noisy in all rooms and I hate it!

I get it! I also remember when most houses had a “good room” for visitors, while women slaved in a small, incidental room out the back! Children were either underfoot or in another room, unsupervised. The open plan, kitchen/family room was LIBERATION! Cook elevated from slaveThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better.
