this was the reason my 90-something socially conservative grandfather was so sanguine about my cousin's transition. he attributed it to chemicals in the water, a la alex jones.
When I was trans once a friend of a friend asked me if I thought maybe I was trans because of contaminated soil in Cleveland. People are completely out of pocket.
