I find the idea of the “strong woman” really irritating. Times when ppl have told me I’m one have always been disorienting bc what I really wanted to hear from them was “what you experienced was totally unacceptable.”

For me it’s like being called brave. It’s a thought terminating cliche, and the thoughts the person wants to avoid are about if there’s anything to do to avoid ppl having to go through the same stuff.

But that’s the thing about being female, we are burdened w/ symbolizing concepts rather than just being listened to in a straightforward way. That’s why I hate a naked female sculpture symbolizing a concept. Sucks being a concept. Concepts don’t get heard.

Yes, you are absolutely right. This type of thinking dismisses women's humanity and prevents dealing with major problems. Women are human beings and not concepts.
