I once went to couples counseling with a partner who told me that she could not listen to the therapist because she wore ugly shoes. I realized then that no amount of counseling could save our relationship.

Could be transference and it’s their way of expressing they don’t like their own haircut

Could be a reaction to a perceived power imbalance too...or could be cos they have an idea of what men and women "should" look like...or they could just be rude
