This is the key bit of analysis that third wave feminism has valiantly tried to discourage young women from ever considering. It’s the motivating resource incentive for all of this socially constructed gender in which we are framed as sweet, gentle, caring and dumb.

This is so important for young women to grok bc it destroys the illusion that somehow the treatment you’re subjected to is something you created or control. You make a resource ppl want! It’s not at all about who you are as a person, it’s like a mugger coming for your wallet.

How men assure themselves their power will continue into the future after death is through demonstrations of control of women’s bodies. Think of this when you see harems in music videos, read about Genghis Khan, Henry the 8th, or Hitler, or the dress codes for any religious sect.

Did not expect ppl would respond to this thread so strongly! Guess we’re hungry for some materialist incentive analysis in our feminism. I totally get why- w/o it the subjugation of female ppl across cultures can make you feel insane. We make people. That gives men big feelings.

My own evo-psych hot take is that the drive to secure a bigger percentage of the future for one's genetic offspring, when it can't be satisfied merely by producing infinite numbers of offspring, largely resorts to attempting to reduce competitors' offspring...
