One under-discussed emotional aspect of the dialogue between older and young women about feminism is the irritation older women experience watching young women go through the process of fully grokking patriarchy.

Tbh when you’ve been through lots of bad shit that v few ppl have responded appropriately to, it hurts to know a young person is headed for the same bad shit AND it hurts to consider that they might, through sheer luck, avoid some of the bad shit.

Generation gaps make me sad. I fantasize about a time when they were less acute, though I don't know if that ever actually existed. With the pace of change in our modern world, and maybe less meaningful intergenerational activity than we used to have, though, maybe it did.

Anyway, great thread. I hope this can help bridge that divide. It's better for people of all ages when we can do this. (Or at least, I've always wanted to, when I was a child, emerging adult, and now that I've been an adult for over half my life, which still feels weird.)
