I got married to my husband by a justice of the peace. I wore a (lovely) pant suit. For some reason it didn't occur to me to wear a dress. Zero pressure, nearly zero planning. Booked a date, showed up in her office, done. Went out for dinner with family & friends. Married 25 yrs.

The lack of festivities was the least of their problem; they didn't want us marry at all. 25 yrs/ 2 kids later, its funny, but back then it was stressful. On the other hand, it saved thousands (tens of thousands?) of $, removed the pressure and left ample room for future fun.
