Having done SO MUCH in-home therapy, agencies will send social workers and therapist into such dangerous situations now that aren’t even supposed to be “crises.”

Oh and it’s always the new grads who don’t know any better. I’d love to see some stats on how many social workers get assaulted in their first two years on the job.

I mean most encounters don’t need to turn violent & wouldn’t without the police. we already have crisis social workers who are trained for things like this, just woefully understaffed&underfunded,& i’d imagine there would be different classes of social workers for different needs

I've known 4 social workers well. While 1 of them was a very intelligent and capable woman the other 3 would give train wrecks a bad name. Not a definitive sample size, but I'm skeptical of their utility in replacing police.
