Racism is absolutely a big part of why black ppl are over-represented in police brutality cases, but I’m not convinced simplifying the stats and erasing the many white people who are victims moves us towards police departments working differently.
We want this to resolve with cops doing their jobs differently so there’s less needless violence and brutality, it seems to me it’s important in that effort to highlight that lots of poor white people also have their lives taken by police.
But tbh once you get into the research of WHAT policies would decrease police brutality the correct things to ask for get really murky.
