Obviously racism is fundamental in all the violence black people experience at the hands of the cops, but it’s just reality that police brutality also kills a lot of white people. We all deserve police officers who can figure out how to police without killing us.
If we start thinking about what policies actually need to be enacted to change how policing is done in America, which frankly I think is a tricky problem, those policies and changes would be GREAT for the safety of a bunch of poor white people too.
A lot is wrong with those numbers, it’s just also the case that police are dangerous for white peoples and the stats bear that out. And we’d all benefit from the culture of policing changing so that less people die.
Idk when I was about 13 Cleveland police rolled up with rifles drawn on my house, showing up 6 hours late for a call about a gunfight that happened next door. Dumbass hothead cops are a real problem for all of us + some real, trackabke changes to policing need to happen.
