I have had this very thought about my own FTM kid.

Once the trans experience gets proper academic study, people will find several niches just w/i the teen FTM experience: crossover w/ ED, trauma and abuse survivors, ROGD, the guilty girls rejecting so-called middle-class privilege.... it goes on and on. 1.

They are taught in school to be ashamed of their privilege: something they have no control over. Wouldn’t it make sense to teach kids whose lives are privileged that they have been given a gift of a hard working family and shouldn’t feel shame for reaping those benefits?
-
It can be hard to do this... especially if a kid swims in a complicated social pool. Why? Why is one family blessed, and another not? Kids are really discovering at this age how unfair life can be. Kids are angry at God, at the government, and especially their parents. Sigh.

I think our culture celebrates and gives attention to people’s narratives of being harmed more than we celebrate people taking on responsibility for and helping others.
