    As a member I’ve just voted for strike action And action short of a strike to protect my pension, oppose casualisation, resist dangerous workloads, and get rid of the shocking gender pay gap in Universities. Thanks for your solidarity.💪✊

    No. Students don’t desperately cry out for contracts. MUCH uni teaching is done by postgrads on insecure hourly (often ZHC) contracts Note this VC *admits he doesn’t know* how many ZHCs at his place while pronouncing there aren’t many...

    Similarly to Jamie, I’ve been on precarious contracts for a loooong time: it damages wellbeing, productivity and collegiality. Also makes it harder to come forward if someone behaves inappropriately towards you, since you must not be seen as trouble when looking for next job op

    1 spokesperson today saying that people like precarious contracts is a super low blow. I am very lucky, since 2016, I’ve been on a ‘permanent contract’, when there are hundreds or more talented people than me still scrabbling around for the next contract..
