Friday at 7pm, Officer Eugene Goodman will throw out the first pitch at the game. On January 6, he led a violent mob away from our elected leaders. Officer Goodman's act of valor was just one of many our officers displayed. Good luck Eugene! We know you'll nail it!

CRITICAL INCIDENT: USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news one of our beloved German Shepherds passed away. K-9 Uri, who was 4 years old, died this week from complications from an infection.

Our officers are searching in and around the Senate Office Buildings in response to a concerning 911 call. Please stay away from the area as we are still investigating. We will continue to communicate with the public here.

The USCP also stopped a vehicle along Louisiana Ave. this morning and subsequently arrested two people for felony extraditable warrants out of Texas. One was for Possession of a Firearm. The other was for a probation violation. So far, the USCP is reporting a total of 4 arrests.

At 1:30 pm, someone spotted what appeared to be a handgun on a man in the crowd. The witness told USCP officers, who detained the suspect. At this time, it is not clear why the man was at the demonstration. Officers charged him with 40 U.S. Code § 5104 - Unlawful activities.

If you are inside the Senate Buildings, everyone inside should be sheltering in place as the report was for a possible active shooter. It should be noted that we do not have any confirmed reports of gunshots.

The procession for Officer Billy Evans passed the U.S. Capitol this afternoon. Officer Evans spent 18 years protecting this building and everyone inside it. USCP lined up to pay respect to our fallen hero.

We have received several reports of aggressive fox encounters on or near the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. For your safety, please do not approach any foxes. Animal Control Officers are working to trap and relocate any foxes they find.

All of the fencing that surrounded the outer perimeter of the U.S. Capitol Complex has been removed. Affected roads have reopened. The USCP is ready to quickly ramp up security at a moment’s notice, if needed.

FAKE TWEET ALERT: A Twitter account impersonating the U.S. Capitol Police account posted a tweet in reference to a shooting near the Longworth Building that NEVER happened. Shots have not been fired. The Capitol Complex is not on lockdown. USCP is investigating.

Just now, this scared puppy was found strolling around outside of the Capitol by himself. Thankfully, our Bicycle Response Team caught up with “Zumi” and took the little guy to visit the North Barricade team for water and treats until his owner was found! Great work, USCP! 🐾👏

This morning one of our officers spotted a baby squirrel who had fallen from a nest near HQ. Our team gave the squirrel (they named Nutmeg) some water & gave the little one a place to rest before Animal Services took Nutmeg to a wildlife refuge for rehab. #FeelGoodMonday

Dale Paul Melvin, who was arrested in October after he illegally parked in front of the Supreme Court, has returned and parked his Chevy Tahoe in front of the Court again. Our investigators are talking to him now. Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed off the area.

The USCP has cleared the external security threat incident located at all of the U.S. Capitol Campus buildings, however the area around the crime scene will continue to be restricted and individuals should follow police direction.

Demonstrators are starting to block First Street, NE. It is against the law to block traffic, so officers are going to give our standard three warnings before they start making arrests.
