Democrats know they can't beat @RealDonaldTrump straight up. They want to turn their back on the Constitution and dismantle the Electoral College. The electoral college system as it operated in the last election to select Clinton over Sanders is antidemocratic. Sanders was the people's chosen Democratic candidate. The people were over-ruled by the establishment elite.
