It is interesting so many are opposed to incarceration for technical parole violations while so few are opposed to civil commitment laws Under civil commitment law, you can be incarcerated FOREVER without EVER being found guilty of committing a crime Think about that

The idea that someone’s “risk” is measured as higher without regular employment, a committed relationship and pro-social activities (all of which are blocked by registry requirements and obstacles put in place by supervision officers and systems) is cruel and unusual.

Slaves couldn’t vote. Despite, states kept political power through three fifths clause. Prisons are slavery by another name. Prisoners are counted as residents of prisons in census data Voting is power & this is about suppression of POC empowerment

Serious question: If a trained law enforcement officer cannot tell if you are too impaired to operate a vehicle without TESTING you in some way... How is an average person supposed to know if someone is too imparied to consent to sex?

Sorry , another thought after “end.” If you’re in the group that was previously excluded but now included, it’s liberating and there’s no feeling like it. But to still be on the outside when people you really expect to be your advocate don’t stand up fully, that’s devastating.

Angela Davis: "You are correct to ask what makes people *feel* safer, rather than what actually makes people be safer. It is ironic that with the continued pandemic of intimate violence--violence in the home--that the family is still considered to be a safe place, a haven...1/3

As someone who committed a violent offense 15 years ago and is reformed. No criminal problems since, i agree. The crime doesnt matter to thier future its how they address the issues that allowed them to do it. And who they choose to be going forward. Everyone has value.

Not just nonviolent offenders those who committed a violent offense should be allowed a 2nd chance too Everyone seems afraid to address the real issue Most ppl who are in prison are convicted of a violent crimeThey should be given a second chance You shouldn't punish ppl forever
