I believe that the human being would have lived forever. But, the tree of life would have been involved for sure. That tree was never touched by man. No man ever consumed the fruit therein.

So humanity was immortal without eating from the tree of life?

As I said in a tweet to another. The Tree of Life would have been part of that plan. But man was thrown out of the garden and cherubs we're set to guard the way into it. Then the flood destroyed it.

Prior to their sin and the curse, were Adam and Eve mortal or immortal?

Immortal means can never die. They were mortal but would have been kept alive forever by eating from the tree of life. God says "if he should eat from the tree of life and live perpetually..."

So Adam and Eve were created to be in a mortal state since they were not yet immortal nor had they consumed the fruit of the tree of life. Am I understanding this correctly?

No, I think the word perpetually is closer than forever.

What is the difference between “perpetually” and “forever”?

Perpetual it's only Perpetual when it's perpetual... don'tcha knows evangelical exygeesus? The Perpetual Sabbath and Perpetual circumcision we're also shorter perpetual's.

And Yahweh is the "perpetual" but not "everlasting" God (Gen 21:33).

Well of course. He's before and after time. Adam isn't.
