And as a game critic, I continue to not know how to respond to that other than outrage. It's ludicrous on its face. It's an insult to the work of developers, critics, people touched by games - anyone who fights for this medium.

And all of this taps into a more general problem of tech companies wanting to display a sense of faux apoliticism; it absolutely ties into YouTube's PR disaster this week and EA's fumbling of their Battlefield V elite soldier.

I so hate this gutless attitude of PR-driven companies that would rather make games blander that to make a statement that could be seen as controversial. Nevermind that it's disingenuous BS to say that stories like theirs can be politically neutral.
