On the 7th anniversary of Shelby County v. Holder, we remember the words of Justice Ginsberg. Shelby County v. Holder was a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case in which #SCOTUS gutted the #VotingRightsAct (VRA) of 1965. It’s past time to #RestoreTheVRA; the Senate should act now.pic.twitter.com/GfiVD1EtmF

The VRA and its "preclearance system" is widely recognized as one of the most effective civil rights measures ever, and it was reauthorized five times with overwhelming support, most recently in 2006 by a vote of 390-33 in the House and 98-0 in the Senate.https://campaignlegal.org/update/seven-year-legacy-shelby-county-voter-suppression-communities-color …

For almost 50 years, the #VotingRightsAct protected the voices of voters of color & ensured all could participate in our democracy. The House passed a bill in 2019 that would restore the VRA’s main protections. The Senate should act now. #ANDSTILLIVOTE
