#NorthDakota passed a voter ID law in 2013 that had the potential to disenfranchise thousands of eligible Native American voters in the state. Faced with trial scheduled for this May, the state agreed to settle to help address barriers that were making it hard for people to vote.

Native American voters in ND will soon have the opportunity to mark their residence on a map. The state has also agreed to develop & implement a program to distribute photo IDs on reservations, & the burden shifts to the state to verify addresses + ensure ballots are counted.
