My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

David has been in jail for more than 35 years. That’s a lot longer than most people serve for murder. So where is the privilege? I am very happy for David, his father, and his soon to be born child.

His victims all received a life sentence. They didn’t get a single second more to live. This man was lucky to live behind bars.

The guy was unarmed, didn’t touch anyone but got many x more yrs in prison than the cop who happily tortured & suffocated George Floyd to death, a civilian, unarmed man. Don’t be naive about a systemically screwed up criminal injustice system. It’s not blind & people get wronged.
