I find it so disappointing to see a successor to a role I held taking this position. I was Lincoln SU's first Women's Officer (and very NUS-sceptical at first) and the training and access to resources the NUS provided allowed me to help so many of my fellow students.

This is so transparently unjust it beggars belief. I hope that the Blackpool Martyrs will be a rallying cry for peaceful protest and action on the environment

The era of smear & scandal politics having an impact is over. It died during Cameron’s tenure, who refused to sack cabinet ministers when he saw no one cared when he didn’t. People never had a high opinion of politicians anyway. It’s what they propose for the country that matters

It is unacceptable that we sell £100s of millions worth of arms to regimes that use disproportionate deadly force against their citizens. This morning I asked the gov what they are doing to ensure Br weapons are not being used against and citizens. 1/2

As noted, was wrong to say the gov always assesses, on a case-by-case basis, the risk of arms being used for repression or to break international law. This is not good enough. Britain simply cannot enable brutal attacks on innocent civilians. 2/2

In 2013 I spoke against May's racist immigration Bill and raised along with and others the implications for citizens that did not have documentation or had papers they were not able to get back from the Home Office, as has played out for the Windrush generation.
