My first reaction is dismay, if not surprise, at the lack of appropriate knowledge. I realise there are slim pickings in Parliament on this subject. You cannot move without tripping over an MP with a law or finance background, but good luck finding someone with digital knowledge
But should we see this appointment as more worrying? Appointment of a QC into a role that includes digital? This Tory PM has already shown authoritarian tendancies. Is this a precursor for further interference and attempts to exert control in the digital space?
So the best hope we have is that it's just about loyalty. There's no other intent, he's never wanted the role, it's just about the politics. Another symbol of a shambolic government and PM, just trying to hold things together... #couldntmakeitup
I wonder how long it will take voters to realise that they're (by and large) electing clueless twerps who joined a political party and schmoozed up the right people. (Present company and virtually all of the 2015 intake of SNP members excepted.)
This is no way to choose people to take on important and difficult tasks in the running of a country.
always been the way in UK...private school + Oxford...then pick the post you want...either main party
Or bus conductor, TGWU, Labour party, safe seat in Glasgow or Lanarkshire. Same result.
