This is a critical time in the life of Scottish producers. We are seeing our national brand being eroded on a daily basis, and we run the risk of losing key geographical protection. There is a risk to food, produce and textiles, and many other quality products.https://twitter.com/CalumRKerr/status/1012234779947945984 …

Geoff, that may be the case sometimes, but it’s becoming less the case. The brand is key to identifying and promoting our produce. It is our USP, and we must protect it.

It’s the case millions of times,as is uk labels produce. Frankly I’m not bothered what flag is on it as long as people buy it and jobs are secure. I think you’re highlighting a problem that doesn’t exist.,per se.....

The thing is where you have a product that is distinctly Scottish, such as Stornoway Black Pudding, or in our case, tartan/tweed woven in our mill, the Scottish brand is a key identifier in the global market. It is known to bring major benefits to businesses and the economy.

And I agree with you with something so peculiar to an area or history but for instance strawberries are grown uk wide and aren’t as peculiar as Harris tweed,so can be Scotland
or
labelled.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
Replying to @jeffers6550 @AndrewElliotLtd and
I wouldnt suggest for a minute labelling Harris tweed as ‘made in uk’ although technically it is.

Harris tweed is of course protected by legislation, that however hasn't stopped some UK branding of it, which dilutes it's brand and significance, and lumps it in with other tweeds from Scotland & England.

Seriously Geoff look at the web site and the issue more deeply pls. It's a campaign totally aligned to the likes of NFUS. It's way more than simply what we see in the shops, it's about brand and associated values, but also PGIs & PFNs that protect us today, and future trade deals

I agree with you. When I stop being bombarded by idiots wanting to boycott Tesco because of a union flag on strawberry
,as if this is comparable to Harris tweet or scottish salmon, then I’ll look more deeply.
I wish u well promoting Scottish products.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likesThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
