Few studios use it professionally but if you learn to make good stuff in it, it will translate.

It’s used a lot in indie games here in Norway. Due to team sizes, budgets and all that :)

Nice. I’m seriously considering supporting only Maya and Blender for the tutorials section of my book. I don’t believe students should be moving into 3DS Max anymore.

I actually contacted Autodesk sales regarding sunsetting Max when proposing the book and they denied it vehemently, asking where I got my information. I was like... “you guys?” :-P

When I was on AC: Origins, they met our team to know what kind of features we’d like to have in Max (This was in 2016), they said they were committing to Max. I was using Mobu, but a lot of people were just asking for Mobu features in Max basically (like Story)

Ubi is no small customer. 1-2 years ago I'd also heard "Max is dead" then saw them present their several-years roadmap.

The legend goes they changed their tune after Rockstar devs lost their shit at them at GDC one year, but I’d call it only a reprieve from Max’s death sentence.

I can animate happily in Max or Maya, but I'll be sad to see Max go cause I love their Link Constraint setup compared to Maya's parenting and I'll be sad to see CATrigs die ;-;
