I really hope this Maya license change isn't true. So many people are gonna lose access for learning :( I'll probably wont be able to make any personal work again once my educational license is gone.

Yeah I've seen only a few people notice, I think the jist of it is that you have to be down at a credited educational facility or you wont have access. So if you study outside of school or if you do an online animation course (that isn't credited) then there wont be access

That change is only affecting the United States, so I wouldn't worry for now, but who knows how quickly it will spread out to other parts of the world

It says they are rolling it out globally as well in the actual license thing :(

It's already rolled out, I just went on the site and I had to send documentation if I wanted to get any of their student licenses.

Policies like this almost make me think that autodesk "wants" people to learn blender. If more people use another program at home, they might push for another program where they work. I don't see what large benefit autodesk would get from this.

Only benefit is that not as many people will do commercial work with student licenses
