The truscum mindset is inherently venomous. You don't become truscum for some abstract reason. You do it because you see someone (probably a nonbinary person) demanding access to trans spaces and communities, and it burns you because you don't accept their identity
They want to be treated as equally trans to you, and you hate it because they aren't going through all the medical shit you and your friends are. They want some changes in terminology to be more inclusive, and that offends you, because who are they to make such demands?
You get more annoyed and angry and resentful, until you stumble on the truscum community, and they give you a bunch of ideology to furnish your feelings The point is, it all stems from that one moment of non-acceptance towards people who "aren't trans enough" for you
I still don’t understand why a person would openly identify with a group known to act harmfully and then later specify that their views are ‘radically less harmful’ than the group’s views, as if that makes the entire controversy more palatable. Why? Who stands to gain from it?

one day in Barcelona on a day I was particularly femme presenting, I got kicked out of the men's room by a cishet female bathroom attendant....I normally have "shields up" for cishet male nonsense in the men's room, I wasn't ready for THAT one

They do it because they can't accept their own identity. They almost always believe that being trans is basically an intersex condition where their brain is one sex and their body is another.
They can't accept the reality that it's an issue of identity. Anything but a hardcore medicalized view of things makes them uncomfortable because they can't accept that things are more complicated than that.

Like it’s understandable to have that initial feeling and reaction while dealing with your own struggles and experiences but why lash out and project that experience on others? It hurts.
I met two people like this in the last couple days and both had similar experiences - they were part of the trans community but left because most of the trans people they encountered were not like them.
