The disturbing parallels between the incels/MRA types in the West and the "soup-boys" and "one-side lovers" of TN (and India, on the whole) is more and more apparent as the reports about VAW come out. The essential similarity is their attitude to women as sub-human, as chattel +

If we are more alarmed by references to "femoids" than to "figures," it is only because the latter has been mainstreamed and normalised by pop culture. But the underlying assumptions are almost the same. That the world owes them the women they desire, all other concerns be damned

It's probably to the country's credit that we have way stricter gun laws than the US (and also less disposable income) making it harder for the bois to go on a rampage. But the rage, the contempt for women, the entitlement, the inclination to violence & abuse, all very much there

But the pop culture in the West (excluding obviously misogynistic genres like rap) would come under heavy criticism if the hero were overtly an incel (The objectification of women is universal but, say, their undermining of women's agency & intelligence would be.. maybe subtler?)

Here, male protagonists are unabashedly written as a weird combination of swaggering macho-dudes & whining incels. Women are written explicitly as doormats, gold-diggers or manic pixies (the proverbial "loosu ponnu"), but of the same size/skin colour. And life seems to end at 26.

No wonder we keep feeding their delusion that they are centre of the universe which exists to fulfill their desires. We are literally mass-producing stalkers and other sundry violent, entitled men. Unlike mass shootings, this is not recognised for what it is: a national epidemic.
