Lots of tweets going viral on this but I’m pretty sure this is an inaccurate conclusion drawn from the CDC site. COVID-19 causes organ failure and other conditions and from what I see CDC is just saying that 6% of people SOLELY died from the virus.https://twitter.com/ASlavitt/status/1300098832605286401 …

The CDC website says that only 6% of the people who have died from COVID actually died of COVID because they also had other conditions. Social media is promoting this to minimize COVID. This political spin doesn’t prevent disease. It causes it.

For instance, my mentor’s Kidneys failed as a result of being on a ventilator with COVID-19 for two weeks. When dialysis failed, he passed away shortly after. From what I’m seeing, CDC would say this death wasn’t SOLELY from COVID-19?

To be clear, he had zero underlying issues. He would be alive and healthy today if it wasn’t for COVID-19, but CDC would say he didn’t solely die from COVID-19. Its very confusing and a dumb way of thinking about it.

So many people have "underlying conditions" that would hasn't gone unnoticed until they died of old age. It's silly to say that those people didn't die from covid just because covid activated those issues

The age gap here is fairly stunning though. I mean remarkably so. I'd have to run comparisons but I don't think even the flu is this lopsided.

Yes - confusion abounds 6% had no co-morbid conditions - diabetes, obesity, COPD, heart dz, immunocompromised, etc That is a low number because the co-morbid conditions are so common Doesn't mean 94% weren't caused by Covid-19 They were!

Yeah but when the stats of normal deaths goes way down from decades of stats but the only deaths being added are COVID then it’s time to take a look-just like this was one of the worst flu death seasons and flu deaths just disappeared when COVID came.
